Anyone knowing this make and model? Was it ever flying?
There is an update of the memberpage nearly done: Now nearly every member has a face there too. Some more faces are coming soon.
Maybe the page is now more colorfull and new members are better able getting familar with our bunch. Anyway, everyone sees also the disadvantages: some picture are not available, other are realy bad.
If anyone disagrees with his picture, please let me know and I’ll remove his "ID-picture" at once.
Do not email me any reason, only your wish!
And if you have a better picture as a replacement, attach it to the email.
Thanks.
I updated the software of our news-section in the last two days.
It took a little longer than usually, because I had to upgrade across several version. Although this news-section will never fly like the planes of our “members”:http://www.eaa972.org/members/, it’s the newest and best version available.
Maybe it can fly in the next version…
Until then, posting news is a lot more comfortable.

Hi All
I just wanted to pass the word that there is a gentleman in Tyler with a Jodel D-9 project that he would like to sell.
The aircraft was finished in the early 60’s, had flown, and then was damaged in a hangar collapse. Repairs were made, and then the builder/owner passed away.
The current owner worked mostly on the canopy, instrument panel, and the installation of a Subaru EA-81 1800cc direct drive engine conversion.
The plans and documentation are in good shape, and plans are still available from Falconer.
The original engine for this airplane was a 36HP VW. With this engine it will fly at 105mph with an open cockpit.
In my opinion, the Subaru engine is to heavy. A VW 1600cc, Jabiru 80 HP, or an HKS engine would be appropriate.
Price is $2,000 without the Subaru engine. This inlcudes a panel with many new instruments.
The Subaru EA-81 1800cc engine is available for $1,000 with the direct drive conversion parts. It was tested with a torque meter type test stand at 55HP.
The wing is the area where this project needs a lot of work.
I think the landing gear could be converted to the Diel gear for a KR-2. Original gear is included.
I’ll work on getting some pictures if anyone is interested.
The Jodel D-9 is an all wood, single place, low wing aircraft with conventional gear. There are number of these aircraft flying in Europe, and some in Australia.
See www.jodel.com for a good picture of the Jodel D-9 and much more info about that type. But look out for pop-ups.
