Runway Gumbo

For those that did not make it to the EAA 972 Runway Gumbo Fly-in missed out on REALLY good food and a lot of neat airplanes. We had an excellent turn out, mainly because of the beautiful weather. We had a good turn out of folks flying in. It was a lot better than I expected. Bart started cooking around 9 a.m. and we started serving around 11 a.m. We actually stop serving around 1:30. We had a pretty constant flow of guests and we actually got crowded for a while. We had many from the DFW area and some even from Ponca City, OK! We had a flight of ultralights from Arlington. More details in our monthly Newsletter.

Remember we will do it again on April the 22 and plan on doing more advertising. Don’t miss it.

Regards
Jerry

    Happy Ending ?

Two 14-years old boys from Big Bear Lake/CA intended to escape from home to Mexico. One stole the Mooney M20C of his father out of the hangar and they started. After 10 minutes, over the desert near Joshua Tree the engine run out of fuel and they had to make a deadstick landing. They suffered only light injuries.
Non of them had a PPL.
    Both were arrested.
The background why the boys survived was: one boy watched his father sometimes when he accompanied him flying. That was all the experience of this “PIC”.
