Some utilities
- Everybody needs a package for writing, calculating, drawing and for presentation. How about Open Office? It is from Sun and better than MS-Office. For example it is also able to export PDFs. And it is completly free!
- Also everybody needs an image viewer. Best one for all the different formats. And one that's able to convert, resize, improve, cut pictures. So I recommand you IrfanView. For private use is complety free and there are a lot more reasons why this viewer is so widedly used.
- You need a conversion? 3000+ different units in 80+ categories are handled by the Numerical Chameleon, Version 1.6. The download and use of this tool is absolutly free.
- A special part? Let it make by eMachineShop. Download the free 6 MB drawing-programm, draw you part (you get a lot of support), select the material (all sorts of steel, aircraft-alu, plastic ..), ask for the price, - and wait few days for the delivery!
- This is a website for nationwide airshows.
- The EAA has also a page for flying and related events.
- The EAA-Sport Aviation is not the only magazine to build your own airplane, Kitplanes is also worth a visit.
- Search for N-numbers ?
- Oskosh bound or another long trip? Use the Fuel Stop Planner
- Extensive airport-infos you get via www.Fltplan.com or more handy and with a colored aerial picture at AirNav.com
- Aerial black&white pictures of 97% of the USA are on the Terraserver-USA, just enter the coordinates of Gladewater (North 32 31.7 , West 094 58.3). The appearing picture is from Mar-9-95, but it shows even the ever present Ercoupe near the filling station! Google delivers also, even colored maps, but at this time not in such a high resolution.
- At this time, Google-Earth delivers colored birdviews from any point of our entire world. For viewing you need the Google-Earth Software, which is comfortable and free.
- Weather, Airportinfos, Flightplanning and more is also available at XC-Pilot.
- Comfortable flightplanning is also possible at SkyVector. Use it best with a broadband-connection, because a lot of graphics are transmitted.
