EAA Chapter 972
... calls East Texas home. We are a group that has a broad range of experience and capabilities. Our membership includes people who build, restore, and inspect aircraft. We are always willing to assist any aviator who may be in need. If you wish to become a member of our group please do so.
The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) is an organization that
promotes all forms of recreational aviation. It was started in 1953 by a group
of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their
own airplanes. Today the EAA is simply the leader in sport aviation.
Homebuilding aircrafts is not our only goal, aviation related education is
also very important. With a wide span from flight-safety to the strong support
of the Young-Eagle (YE) program.
Browse the various information on the left to see more about our chapter.
Feel free to contact anyone of the chapter officers and members for additional info.
We have adopted the Gladewater municipal airfield. Hoping this will improve the many advantages and benefits of an airfield for the population in the adjacent towns and villages.
An educational task of us is also the Young-Eagle (YE) work : everyone who is between 8 and 17 has the free & 100%-chance to see his neihgborhood from the bird's-eye view. An experienced pilot will fly him and explain him the things around flying. Any kid shall use this great chance and enjoy such a ride! The pilots do too! Contact Bill Vawter on the member-page.
Our meetings are normaly on the second Thursday each month at 6:30 PM in the Gladewater airport office. Other activities are announced on the news-page and in the section events.
